Meråker is an exclusive mountain village resort. This is where the Norwegian Winter Olympic Team train and where young aspiring Norwegian Olympian’s learn and perfect their skiing and winter sport techniques. Blessed with wonderful alpine skiing slopes, hundred miles of perfectly prepared cross country-skiing tracks carved through the wilderness. In Meråker you will also find a skiing college famous for bringing up world class Nordic cross country skiers and biathletes. Welcome to a fun and fully packed winter week where you will learn how to cross
country ski from the worlds leading coaches, alpine ski on the Norwegian/Swedish border and also learn basic outdoor winter survivalskills from leading polar experts. A winter zip-lining and snow shoe safari is also on your programme.
Following arrival at Trondheim Vaernes Airport your group will be transferred by coach to your accommodation at the Meråker-Rypetoppen Adventure Park. On check-in, your group will be shown to their cabin accommodation. This will be followed by a short tour of the facilities and a briefing about the program, camp rules and a health & safety rules. A welcome dinner will be held in the main building followed by a clothing and equipment brief in order to make sure that everyone have the clothes needed for cold conditions.
Cross Country Skiing Tuition
After breakfast your group will spend the day learning how to cross country ski (XCski) from some of the world’s leading instructors. Lunch will be indoors or outdoors (on trail) depending on the weather. The group will enjoy incredible scenery and a wonderful introduction to cross country skiing.
Alpine Ski Day Tuition
Following breakfast your group will take a short 15 minute transfer to the Storlien skiing center for a full day of alpine skiing. Storlien is a calm and beautiful Swedish ski resort situated on the border between Norway and Sweden. The slopes at this resort are perfectly suited for beginner skiers. After a short introduction the group will be split into smaller groups for ski training and instructions.
Expedition Training… meet the Polar Explorers
Following breakfast, your group will have the morning skiing, followed by lunch before meeting up with a group of polar expedition experts and explorers for an arctic expedition training day. Students will learn winter outdoor skills such as how to make a snow shelter, how to make fire, light a stove, melt snow properly to create drinking water and also how to put up a tent in a storm. Students will experience an expedition lunch in a snow shelter or expedition tents.
Winter Fun Day
Following breakfast it is time to “go monkey” in one of the finest adventure parks of Norway. Students will be climbing and ziplining between the trees and across frozen lakes with zip-lines from 30 to 230 metres long. Highly qualified instructors will ensure your group will enjoy great fun and a safe experience. Other soft skill activities will also be provided making it fun for both adrenaline seekers and those that are not.
De Brief and Check out
Following breakfast students will square away the camp and have a debrief of the week before transferring back to Trondheim Vaernes Airport.
